So, a few months ago I stumbled across a small restaurant, I might have missed it if it wasn’t for the chalkboard sign outside which said ‘Tuesday free wine tasting- 7pm’. In fact, I realized I must have walked past this place a million times before. But this time was different, there was wine inside… and it was free, and I was going to find out what the deal was.
So I entered through the door and heavy curtain, and inside I found a warm candle lit cove, filled with the smell of roasted garlic, ahead of me stood a long oak bar and on top of it were carefully placed wine glasses. Behind the bar stood a friendly face and when I gave a curious look, as the word ‘free?’ escaped me, she nodded and said to join them at the bar.
Along with the generously sized glasses of wine we had, we were served small dishes that complemented each wine. It has now been a few months, and I return to the Oak Bar every Tuesday, in fact its safe to say, Tuesday has become my favourite day of the week. What really makes this a great wine tasting experience is not just the great wines and atmosphere, but the lady who makes it possible, Paula Maia. She is such a warm and fun personality, she gets everyone involved in talking about the wines and is truly someone who loves wine and is passionate about it…. and that passion is wonderfully infectious.
It is good to reserve a spot in advance for the Tuesday, this can be done by phone or e-mail. Also in the summer, the tastings are sometimes held in their cosy candle lit garden. It starts at 7pm every Tuesday. See you there!

Nine Inch Nails + Jane’s Addiction
June 7th
Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. 7pm, $26–$85.
Trent Reznor has turned over a fan-friendly new leaf, with free downloads, an iPhone app, a regular presence on Twitter, and a taping policy allowing both audio and video documentation. The core members of Jane’s Addiction, reunited for the first time since 1991, are said to be working on new material. And openers Street Sweeper Social Club—a collaboration between Rage against the machine’s Tom Morello and The Coup’s Boots Riley, are set to be quite something themselves…
Regina Spektor + Little Joy
June 17th
Beacon Theatre. 8pm; $35.50, $40.50, $42.50.
The big story here is that Spektor will be bringing new songs to the Beacon from Far (out June 23), her follow-up to 2006’s smash, Begin to Hope. (In fact, every online ticket purchase to this show includes a two-song download.) The side story: Opening is Spektor’s old pal and Stroke, Fab Moretti, and his band, Little Joy.
Beyoncé
June 21st & 22nd
Madison Square Garden. 7:30pm, $20.75–$175.75.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Model as a Muse: Embodying Fashion
The Tisch Galleries, 2nd Floor
May 6, 2009 – August 9, 2009
The Model as a Muse, spring 2009 exhibition organized by The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art explores the reciprocal relationshipbetween highfashion and evolving ideals of beauty, focusing on iconic fashion models in the latter half of the 20th century and their roles in projecting, and sometimes inspiring, the fashion of their respective eras.
The exhibition features approximately 80 masterworks of haute couture and ready-to-wear. Fashion editorial, advertising, and runway photography plus large- scale projections from feature films are used throughout the galleries to contextualize the fashion zeitgeist.
A book, The Model as Muse: Embodying Fashion, written by Harold Koda and Kohle Yohannan, accompanies the exhibition. It is published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art and distributed by Yale University Press – $50 for the hardcover; and, at Met locations (including metmuseum.org), $35 for a paperback edition.
Also, a T-shirt designed by Marc Jacobs on the occasion of the exhibition is available for purchase in red or fuchsia in the Museum's on-site shops and www.metmuseum.org for $35

Earlier last year whilst I was still in the middle of designing a new collection, I was working into some retro designs, vivid pop colors, such as celebrity microphone, and ‘on air', a 80's influenced grouping of designs, that night I was out for a drink when I bumped into the Retro Kidz, they personally reminded me a little bit of the movie Kid ‘n' play, one of my favorites old school movies!
I have known them from being out and about in New York for a while, but it suddenly struck me, there could not be a better match to represent my new collection than the Retro Kidz?!
They were indeed the best choice I could of made, upon the shoot, after working with many many stylists in my career, none have ever produced the way the Retro Kidz did! They had the best styling and accessories I could not even imagine to bring, from Boombox shaped rings, to the coolest track suits, Hats, pants and sweaters every one being retro originals, mind-blowing stuff, added with THE actual giant ghetto Blaster from Madonna's video, supplied by Gavin Bond, with built in disco lights, the deal was sealed! I can honestly say that was one of the most fun shoots I have worked on!
