I cannot claim this entire idea, it was the photographer Morgan Miler who had influenced me on this, I was telling him I wanted to do a real life, playful shoot, and he mentioned he had always wanted to shoot in the Met, the plan was devised, we would shoot it purposely Gorilla style, the idea was to take 2 girls (one being one of my favorite models JP from IMG) and have them run around the museum playing, licking statues toes, pretending to grab the bums of the giant statues, pretending to be dead on the floor, just to have a lot of fun, the pictures I wanted to look like they were taken from the surveillance tapes, ‘caught in the act’.
We managed to achieve just that, the shoot was a lot of fun, and the models were fantastic, it involved a lot of running, sneaky clothes changes right there and then, and fast thinking!
The met worked out to be the best location we could have ever had, where else can you have some of the most famous art pieces in the world to work with? As well as be in different eras or countries in every room!! I considered it to be the most elaborate studio in history.
