We've rewound to the time when it all began: boom boxes, dokie ropes, and graffiti art. This is our homage to the era. After meeting the Retro Kidz we immediately knew there was no one to better represent the line.
There isn't a day in the executive suite when some throwback to the eighties occurs - whether it be a fond memory shared or a favorite song from the time when things were still new and exciting, when the words low and fat weren't synonymous with each other and rock stars still behaved like rock stars. When to shirk work was a celebratory experience rather than a sacrilege; when we still innocent and full of dreams. The Retro Kidz understand this - understand the importance of that last, most meaningful decade - and so our Retro line was born and photographed on this wonderful group of kids who understand the importance of laughter, playfulness and fun.
When Richard told me that we had partnered with Define Breed to launch a limited edition graphics line I threw my calculator at him. And then a shirt. When he introduced me and showed me their finished work whilst on set, I took my sunglasses off, put my hand on his should and said "I give up. You're a genius."
The Retro Kidz are kind of, as Brian calls it, ‘baller.' Well known amongst our crowd for their remarkable, well, hair, amongst other things. In a throwback to retro's simplistic style, here is Kenny balling it out.
I am not going to pretend that I understand the inspiration for this, but together, Define Breed and Richard Wheeler have created something of indisputable cool. When modeled by the Retro Kidz, the inspiration of Emperors New Clothes collaboration with Define Breed is more than evident; it's outstanding.
Enjoy,
Jeremy
